Meeting with Head of Belarus President Property Management Directorate Viktor Sheiman, Belarus President’s Aide for General Issues Nikolai Korbut

It is essential to improve the situation in Orsha District by the end of the year. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave a corresponding instruction at the meeting with Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Viktor Sheiman and Belarus President’s Aide for General Issues Nikolai Korbut on 22 May.

According to the president, more attention should have been paid to Orsha District, it is needed to solve existing problems. “The government has been instructed to clarify all the details and bring this town in order within a year or a year and a half,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

First of all, the head of state stressed, it is needed to focus on the development of Orsha-based enterprises because this town is a strong industrial center. “They should be restored, and people should work there. These enterprises are very important because they offer in-demand products. The government should make a decision and implement these measures, they should be finished within a year or a year and a half. It is essential to improve the situation in Orsha this year. It will help resolve three major issues concerning employment, remuneration, and pricing,” the president remarked.

It is also needed to clean up other towns in the region, particularly, Baran and Bolbasovo. It is essential to renovate enterprises in those towns, give people an opportunity to work, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

The head of state instructed Viktor Sheiman to take these issues under personal control. “It does not mean that you should replace someone – the government should solve the issues. All enterprises should be brought in order by the end of the year, people should come to work with good mood. I am not speaking about salaries, employment. You already know it. Tough control on your behalf is needed. We will not leave this issue as it is. At the end of the year you will inform me about the progress in Orsha,” the president warned.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the establishment of an agricultural holding company in Orsha District and the modernization of Kopys in this context. Nikolai Korbut will be in charge of these issues. “Everything should be fulfilled in compliance with the plan. Kopys should be turned in the center of processing agricultural products,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “This is the future of our rural areas.”
