Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russia President Vladimir Putin discussed the development of interstate relations at the meeting in Sochi on 14 May.

“We have scheduled a Supreme State Council session. Before the elections (presidential elections in Russia) we decided to hold it in Minsk. In the autumn we have the forum of regions in Mogilev. Usually we hold this forum at the highest-level. I hope you will find time and schedule a visit to Mogilev in the autumn. This is a new city for you. Belarusians and Russians prepare hard for the forum to make sure it is held at a high level,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian President expressed his readiness to discuss in detail the issues of bilateral relations. The head of state remarked that if the parties fail to take decisions on some issues, they can revisit them during the upcoming events.

For his part, Vladimir Putin stated that the cooperation between the two countries continues growing stronger, including within the Eurasian Economic Union. “I am glad to have this opportunity to discuss bilateral relations on the sidelines of today’s international event,” he said.
