Greetings on Fatherland Defenders’ Day

    Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated soldiers and veterans of the Armed Forces, all compatriots on the 100th anniversary of the Armed Forces of Belarus.

    “This holiday embodies the heroic deeds of our compatriots and the continuity of the best traditions of military service. We are proud of the courage of the Belarusian people displayed in the fight against fascism and cherish the memory of the fallen. We are grateful for the valor of soldiers of the pre-war period, war veterans, soldiers and officers of the Belarusian Military District awarded the Order of the Red Banner which has become the foundation of the Armed Forces of our sovereign state,” the message of greetings reads.

    Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that today the country has the professional, well-equipped army which can protect Belarus from external aggressors and is a backbone of statehood.

    “Thousands of young men have been hardened into warriors in the Armed Forces and recall the years of army training with gratitude. A modern generation of defenders of the Fatherland fulfill their military duty with dignity, demonstrate excellent skills and commitment,” the President stressed.

    The head of state is convinced that the Belarusian Armed Forces will always be a guarantor of peace, stability and security.
