Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko hopes for the positive economic growth in 2018. He made the statement at the ceremony to present state awards on 26 December.

The head of state wished Happy New Year to the participants of the ceremony. “I am convinced that 2018 will be the year of labor victories, implementation of plans and projects, the year of the positive economic growth,” he said.

When presenting state awards, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that people prioritizing professionalism and responsible attitude to work are a success. “They are eager to accomplish more every day, reach professional mastery, do something important for their country and people. It is important for the country to have such specialists, raise their status, enhance their authority, and be proud of their achievements,” the President said.

“At the meeting we see those who have demonstrated genuine commitment to work. Your achievements make us confident in the future of Belarus and proud of our nation,” the head of state added.

The Belarusian leader expressed sincere gratitude to workers of the manufacturing sector whose commitment has a strong impact on the dynamic development of the country.

Thanks to the best specialists in agribusiness, Belarus has preserved a leading position on the global food market, the President said.

“All that would be impossible without scientific work. This year is marked by the achievements of our scientists. Their progress in the development and application of innovative technologies in the production process are especially important,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

In his words, representatives of the construction industry and civil aviation have also made a big contribution to Belarus’ economic development.

Workers of law enforcement agencies ensure the national security and public order.

Awards were also presented to teachers, representatives of mass media, renowned athletes and coaches, figures of culture and art.

Representatives of various professions received state awards in recognition of the many-year productive work, exemplary fulfillment of service duties, significant achievements in agriculture, a big personal contribution to the manufacture of super heavy quarry equipment, development of the manufacturing sector, construction industry and civil aviation, big achievements in healthcare, science, culture, and sport.

The Order of Fatherland 2nd Class was conferred on director general of OAO Belovezhsky (2002-2017) Yuri Moroz.

The Order of Fatherland 3rd Class was bestowed upon Director General of OAO BelAZ – managing company of BelAZ Holding Company Piotr Parkhomchik.

Commander of the 1250th military unit of border service Yuri Tertel and commander of the 11th separate guards brigade of the Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces Alexander Pogulyailo received Orders for Service to the Homeland 3rd Class.

Orders of Honor were presented to specialists in various fields. These include director for manufacturing at OAO Amkodor Valery Kondratchik, Director of OAO Zavod Promburvod Valentin Voronovich, Director of OAO Asilak, Uzda District, Valery Maisyuk, chief coach of the Belarusian national sambo team Ernst Mitskevich, aircraft commander of Belavia Vasily Parashchenko, Director General of SOOO Belwest Yuri Sumaneyev.

There was an excursion around the Palace of Independence for the awardees before the ceremony.
