Belarus and Vologda Oblast can set up new joint ventures in the best interests of the entire Russia, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Governor of Russia’s Vologda Oblast Oleg Kuvshinnikov on 5 June.

“We are ready to work together if you are interested in it. I think we have good experience. We can set up not only joint ventures but also start production facilities that Volodga Oblast as well as the entire Russia and Belarus will need. Therefore, it is very good that you have come to Belarus at this time,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

According to the President, Belarus and Volodga Oblast can implement successful manufacturing and agricultural projects. “I have been informed about Volodga Oblast’s interest in the cooperation with Belarus. I think there can be successful projects, especially at the premises of the metalworking plant where we already produce certain joint equipment. I am aware of your projects, I know that you want to reach new heights in food production,” the head of state said.

Oleg Kuvshinnikov said that his region has a number of proposals that are discussed with the biggest Belarusian enterprises. “The talks are in progress. We have made big progress in the joint production of tractors. More than 6,500 tractors have been jointly made in Volodga Oblast. One third of all wheeled tractors in Russia are now produced in Cherepovets, this is a joint enterprise,” the governor said.
