The national alpine skiing center Silichi is a pride of the Belarusian tourism industry. It was inaugurated in 2005. The center was built following the instruction of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko as part of the national health improvement program. Designers of the alpine skiing center took full advantage of the local hilly landscape. Silichi’s slopes have a vertical drop of up to 100m and can be used for downhill skiing. The facility harmoniously fits in the natural scenery. Builders managed to conserve local valuable wood species such as century-old oaks and spruces. Apart from slopes and tracks, the alpine skiing center Silichi has a hotel complex and a gym which is used as an indoor ice rink in winter.
