Decree No 259 of 13 May, 2008

On Organisation of Tour and Concert Activities

On 13 May President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No 259 “On Organisation of Tour and Concert Activities”.

The purpose of this document is to protect the rights of the consumers of culture services by adjusting the whole sphere of tour and concert activities, preventing organisation of entertainment activities of poor artistic quality or those posing threat to morality, public order, citizens’ rights and freedoms.

This Decree approves the Tour and Concert Activities Regulations in the Republic of Belarus. The Regulations identify the main goals of tour and concert activities and the procedure of holding entertainment activities. In addition, the Decree introduces administrative punishment for carrying out entertainment activities without a special permit issued by the authorities, which entitles its holder to organise and hold such activities.

The implementation of the Decree will help create an enabling environment for development of the entertainment sector in Belarus, popularisation of the best of Belarusian and world art.
