Relicensing Period for Some Types of Activities Is Prolonged

On May 3, the President of the Republic of Belarus signed into action Ordinance No 2 “On making additions and amendments to Ordinance of the President of the Republic of Belarus No 17 of July 14, 2003,” which prolongs the period for the renewal of the earlier granted licenses for the activities licensed by the Ministry of Architecture and Construction (designing and construction of buildings and edifices), the Ministry for Emergencies (industrial safety projects), municipal and district executive authorities (retail trade and catering) until January 1, 2005. The period for obtaining licenses by the individual entrepreneurs who are involved in retail trade in the markets has been also prolonged.

In order to renew the licenses for the above stated types of activities, it is incumbent on the license holders to pass the experts' assessments for establishing if they meet eligibility requirements stipulated by the law, thus accounting for longer duration of the license renewal procedure.

Prolongation of period for renewing the earlier granted specific licenses makes it possible to provide favourable conditions for entrepreneurial activities in our country and to complete the process of relicensing by those who have not yet managed to complete it.
