“This holiday evokes strong emotions and feelings such as the bitterness from the loss of millions innocent lives, joy from the liberation from the Nazi invasion, realization of the fragility of peace and responsibility for it,” the message of greetings reads.
“We will always cherish the true history of that war. We will pass the understanding that unity, belief in ourselves and genuine love for the Motherland are the reliable protection from any threat to future generations. Courage, iron will and patriotism of the nation of victors will always be the symbol of our national identity,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
The head of state expressed exceptional gratitude to veterans. “Your feat will always live in our hearts as a great gift, a possibility to work freely on our native land, bring up children and grandchildren relying on the ideals of kindness, honesty and justice,” the President said.
