Session to discuss development of major mechanical engineering enterprises

Every enterprise has to work out flexible measures to respond to emerging threats and challenges. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement at the government conference held on 19 June to discuss topical matters concerning the development of major mechanical engineering enterprises.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that the government conference was going to continue the conversation that had begun the day before to discuss ways to improve the state of affairs in the Belarusian woodworking industry. Apart from that, the government conference on 19 June was going to focus on discussing similar matters and the most pressing problems facing major industrial enterprises. In his opinion, in 2014 the development of the Belarusian production sector was affected by complicated foreign economic conditions. Unfortunately, the negative trends are still in place. All these factors reduce export and output and negatively affect the financial and economic state of enterprises.

“Matters of quality and prime cost, effective management, manufacturing, and sales diversification come to the forefront,” stressed the head of state. “We have discussed this problem more than once and have determined what the state can do about it. We should honestly and sincerely say we are going to do this or we are not due to some reasons. As far as I can understand the government has now worked out support measures.”

The President also stressed: “Every enterprise has to work out flexible measures to respond to emerging threats and challenges. We have also agreed on that.” Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that in 2013 he assigned top government officials to oversee the enterprises that had problems selling their products. “In view of the results that have been achieved it is obvious that the mechanism is weak in current conditions. Nevertheless, the director of an enterprise is the one primarily responsible for the state of affairs,” believes Aleksandr Lukashenko.

Before hearing out proposals of the government regarding the development of the production sector and ways to improve the state of affairs the President said he wanted the Industry Minister and the Vice Premier, who is responsible for this field, to present information about the real situation. After that the Prime Minister was going to inform about the measures the government was taking for the sake of financial rehabilitation of troubled enterprises. “I am interested in dynamics and trends,” noted the head of state.

The President said he wanted a clear definition of what had to be done for the sake of developing these enterprises. Systemic approaches to handling the assigned tasks should be developed as well.
