Report of DBRB Chairman of Board Sergei Rumas

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has endorsed the 2016-2020 development strategy of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus (DBRB). This issue was on the agenda of the working meeting of Belarus President Alexander and DBRB Chairman of the Board Sergei Rumas on 18 July.

“I would like to listen to your report on the state of affairs in the bank in general, the situation with assets, new activities of the bank, including social activities,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The President was informed about the fulfillment of the bank’s strategy for 2013-2015, the drafting of a new strategy, the new functions of the Development Bank arising from its growing role in the Belarusian economy.

Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed the Development Bank to strengthen support for small and medium-sized enterprises. The Development Bank will work both on expanding the line-up of products for small and medium-sized businesses and boosting support for this sector of the economy.

At the meeting the head of state also asked about the performance of wood processing enterprises. Sergei Rumas reminded that the Development Bank took over the management of the woodworking enterprises as of 1 April. “For one quarter of the year these enterprises have worked under our supervision. The first results are available. We’ve been able to increase the workload of these enterprises. The output in Q2 2016 rose by 70% in comparison with Q1 2016. At the same time we took a closer look at all the issues that each enterprise has and see ways to resolve these problems,” the official noted.

One of the issues discussed during the meeting with the head of state was the participation of the national football team in major competitions. At the meeting with the head of state, Sergei Rumas also reported on the progress in the reconstruction of the Dinamo Stadium. According to him, the project will be carried out on time. Belarus will buy the design and estimate documentation of the stadium. This will both reduce design costs, and the time of project implementation.
