New members of council of Belarus President’s culture and art support fund approved

    Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed a decree to approve new members of the council of the Belarus President’s culture and art support fund.

    The composition of the fund was formed taking into account the need to introduce 60% of new members. The chairperson of the council of the fund is Nina Sharubina, the People’s Artist of Belarus, chief master of stage at the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of Belarus.

    The provisions on the fund were amended as well.

    The requirements to the selection and content of cultural projects depending on their social importance, scale, and feasibility in various regions and in the country in general, the responsibility of organizations receiving the support of the fund have been toughened. A panel of experts will be created at the Culture Ministry to analyze applications for the financing of these projects and eliminate subjectivity in the work of the fund.

    The decree aims to support the most large-scale nationwide and international creative projects of big importance for the social and economic development of the country, improve the management of the council of the fund, raise the status of the fund, and enhance its performance.
