The preparations for the 2nd European Games were discussed at the meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) Janez Kocijancic on 1 March.

The head of state wanted the EOC head to share his opinion about Belarus’ preparations for the 2nd European Games in 2019. He wanted to know if the EOC official had any remarks and proposals. “Indeed, we need to discuss a number of things,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Janez Kocijancic remarked that the EOC is satisfied with the progress in the preparations for the forthcoming sports event. “Your people are doing their job very well. We are now in the final stage of the preparations. Both the organizing committee and professional workers are doing their best,” he stressed.

According to the EOC president, Belarus satisfied all expectations. “We knew it would be so because Belarus has a lot of experience in the organization of sports events,” Janez Kocijancic said.

He also congratulated the Belarusian side on the successful performance at the Olympic Games in PyeongChang. “The 15thplace in the world is a great achievement. This testifies to a high development level of sport in Belarus,” the EOC head said.
