Meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Pankaj Saxena

Belarus and India are eager to implement all top-level agreements. The statement was made at the meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko with Outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Pankaj Saxena on 13 March.

The President remarked that the Indian diplomat has made a big contribution to the enhancement of bilateral relations. In his opinion, Pankaj Saxena has made a lot to for the two countries to become closer.

“India is an important country, and we want to maintain friendly and warm relations with it. Since Soviet times we have had a solid foundation of relations and mutual ties. It is good that we have preserved this friendship and good relations,” the head of state believes.

In his opinion, the Belarusian-Indian dialogue has intensified in recent time. The head of state pointed out the importance of mutual visits at the highest level aimed at expanding contacts between Belarus and India. “There have been interesting proposals for the Indian business here, in the center of Europe. Please tell the Indian leadership that we will fulfill these agreements,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Apart from that, the President reaffirmed Belarus’ interest in Indian investments. “If you are interested, we have already said that we are ready to create conditions and preferences for setting up the Indian hi-tech park in Belarus,” the head of state stressed.

The President also deems it necessary to set up joint ventures to produce a wide range of goods, including in mechanical engineering and agricultural machine building, with India. “You know what potential we have. There should be oncoming movement. You will invest money in Belarus and open joint ventures here, we will set up joint enterprises in India to produce necessary products,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The meeting also focused on the expansion of bilateral cooperation in such industries as agriculture, pharmaceutics, in the special economic zone Bremino-Orsha.

The Indian ambassador remarked that the governments of the two countries maintain good contacts in international organizations, the Indian side is grateful to Belarus for support in this format. Pointing to a high level of Belarus-India cooperation, the ambassador noted: “We have no unsolved issues in the bilateral relations.”

The diplomat stressed that the period of his diplomatic mission in Minsk was marked by a number of milestone events, including Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to India in September 2017. The visit contributed to the detailed elaboration of new projects and agreements at the supreme level. “These agreements added a new impetus to the Belarusian-Indian ties,” Pankaj Saxena is convinced. India stays committed to the Belarusian-Indian agreements reached during the Belarusian President’s visit to India.
