BRICS Outreach Meeting

Belarus welcomes the open nature of the BRICS association and is ready to take an active part in various avenues of cooperation as a friendly state. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during the BRICS Outreach Meeting on 9 July.

The Belarusian head of state said: “We have been consistently promoting the idea of integration of integrations in the modern world for a long time. Belarus is a natural ally of BRICS in building mutually beneficial and equal relations between the West and the East, the North and the South without dividing lines.”

“Belarus can definitely be called a member of the club of BRICS friends. We have managed to establish mutually beneficial relations with all the countries of the association,” stressed the Belarusian leader.

Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that Belarus is a reliable and predictable partner. “We don’t have conflicts in our own territory and don’t pose problems for the neighbors. We steadily take care of the security of the common borders and of the transit of energy resources. We effectively counteract drugs trafficking and illegal migration. We pursue a peace-loving foreign policy,” said the Belarus President.

As the leader of the country presiding in the Eurasian Economic Union in 2015, Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that Belarus is ready to support special formats of interaction between the Eurasian Economic Union and the BRICS association.

The President noted that Belarus thinks highly of BRICS’ contribution to the promotion and safeguarding of interests of transition economy countries and developing nations in the international scene. “We hope for a committed stance of BRICS on forming a fairer international economic and financial system,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

According to the Belarusian leader, the BRICS association is rapidly becoming an important and sought-after counterbalance in the complicated formation process of the multi-polar world.

“BRICS member states do not precondition cooperation and mutual aid on some additional requirements. They have no intention to dictate their will to other states,” noted the Belarusian head of state.

In his opinion, at present BRICS countries are engines of economic development. The fact is particularly important for stabilizing the state of affairs in the global economy. “They help other countries secure post-crisis recovery,” said the Belarusian leader. “Moreover, today all the BRICS participants become real centers of integration attraction in their regions.”

“Frankly speaking, such approaches and trends tie in well with the philosophy and practical steps of our country,” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.

“For leading global players the contribution of the BRICS countries to the formation of harmonious and fair international relations is obvious. This is why any attempts to resolve global problems without these countries are counterproductive,” believes the Belarus President.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus highly appreciates the opportunity of having a direct and open dialogue with leaders of BRICS and other countries taking part in the forum.

“I am convinced that our meeting will create the foundation for expanding and invigorating relations between the countries represented here,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
