Belarus President receives credentials from foreign ambassadors

Belarus is ready to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with different countries, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received credentials from foreign ambassadors on 25 June.
According to the head of state, it is very important that the meeting takes place in the run-up to the national holiday – Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus. “There are fateful dates in the history of every nation which give a start to the new era. The liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders who condemned our people to annihilation was such a milestone date for us,” the President noted.
Having defended the right to life in fierce battles and lost one third of its population, the country revived and became stronger. “The memory of the heroic deed of the Belarusian people obliges us to remember the lessons of history, cherish the legacy of previous generations, pursue peaceful policy and take care of the security and sustainable development of our young sovereign state,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
He pointed out the importance of the fact that the diplomats get down to work in a very important and dynamic period of time when Belarus reaches new heights in integration processes.
According to the President, the development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will considerably expand the range of trade and economic cooperation with Belarus and enhance its investment attractiveness.
Receiving the credentials from the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, the President noted that over the past five years the bilateral relations with this country have reached the level of strategic partnership.
The development of mutually beneficial ties with the European Union member states is one of Belarus’ foreign policy priorities.
He stressed that Belarus is interested in cooperation with Belgium, seeks to systematize and enhance bilateral ties.
The Belarusian President also sees good reserves for bolstering cooperation in various fields, first of all, in economy, with Denmark. “There are no obstacles for it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko believes.
Aleksandr Lukashenko believes it is high time the full-format cooperation with Sweden was restored. “Belarus has always advocated a well-balanced, positive and pragmatic dialogue with all countries,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
In his words, Sweden plays an important role in regional and subregional processes of Northern Europe. “Its voice is counted in the European Union. We have never denied the fact that we can learn a lot from Sweden,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
Addressing the Ambassador of Sweden, the President said: “Welcome back!” Aleksandr Lukashenko said that the cooperation with his country is especially important. The head of state stressed that Belarus is interested in the experience of this country, and it is already used in many fields, in particular, in the social sector and economy. The Ambassador of Sweden agreed with Aleksandr Lukashenko that the two countries have good prospects.
The President noted that Belarus and Ireland have a big potential for expanding bilateral ties. “Active contacts in the humanitarian field and at the interpersonal level which emerged thanks to the sincere support of Ireland in the mitigation of Chernobyl disaster consequences, recuperation of children from affected regions create a favorable background for interaction in other areas,” the Belarusian President believes.
Aleksandr Lukashenko placed a special emphasis on the development of cooperation between Belarus and Latin America countries. “Latin America is a rapidly developing country that has been consistently strengthening its positions as one of the world’s economic centers,” the President noted.
Receiving credentials from the Ambassador of Argentina to Belarus with concurrent accreditation, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed long-standing ties and experience of successful cooperation with the country within international organizations. Interstate contacts have recently intensified as well.
Addressing the Ambassador of Brazil to Belarus, the President underlined that this country can become Belarus’ main trade and economic partner on the South-American continent. Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that Brazil has powerful industry and well-developed agriculture. “We expect that the new Ambassador of Brazil will help intensify economic, political and cultural ties between our countries,” the Belarusian leader said.
Receiving credentials from the Ambassador of Uruguay with concurrent accreditation, Aleksandr Lukashenko said he believes that the cooperation between Belarus and Uruguay requires more attention from the authorities of the two countries. According to the President, the mutual trade between Belarus and Uruguay is neither big nor stable. “However, your market is interesting for the Belarusian producers of potash fertilizers and agricultural equipment. In turn, Uruguay could find its place on the Belarusian market,” the head of state said.
The development of political and mutually beneficial trade and economic ties with the Middle East and African countries is one of the priorities of the Belarusian foreign policy, the President noted.
Addressing the Ambassador of Kuwait to Belarus on concurrent, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus appreciates mediatory and peace-making efforts of Kuwait aimed at solving topical regional issues. The President noted that Belarus is interested in the expansion of the political, trade, economic, credit and investment cooperation with this country. He also invited investment funds of Kuwait to implement projects in Belarus.
Receiving credentials from the Ambassador of Jordan to Belarus on concurrent, the President said that there is a big untapped potential for bolstering mutually beneficial relations with this country. According to the Belarusian leader, the sides need to resume the operation of the joint Belarus-Jordan commission for trade and economic cooperation as soon as possible.

The President stressed that Belarus is ready to export its products, including potash fertilizers, tractors and other equipment for agriculture and other industries, to Benin. Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed hope that the Ambassador’s accreditation will give a strong impetus to the enhancement of bilateral ties.
Addressing the diplomats, the President said that business activities, initiatives and a creative approach to the resolution of the most complicated issues will bring tangible results, allow reaching new heights in bilateral relations for the benefit of the nations.
“You must know that we will do our best to facilitate your work in Belarus. You can count on our support and my support as well,” the Belarusian leader said.
“If a state wants to cooperate with us, we have clear-cut priorities and criteria. We will establish close and responsible cooperation. The formula is clear: if we come to an agreement, we will fulfill our obligations. We have projects that can be interesting to you,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
Speaking about security and peace in the region, the head of state noted: “One should not overestimate our role. We are simple people who want to live in peace with their neighbors. When the war takes place near our borders, not only in a neighboring country but in a fraternal country, we cannot stand aside of it. This is a simple formula and the crux of our policy. We are not trying to play a geopolitical role here; we cannot and should not play it. We do not want elderly people, children and women who cannot leave the conflict zone to die. This is our policy.”
