Anatoly Lappo appointed Chairman of Belarus’ State Border Committee
Anatoly Lappo has been appointed Chairman of the
Belarusian State Border Committee. The appointment was made by Belarus President
Alexander Lukashenko on 29 December.
The head of state
remarked that it is needed to enhance the protection of the state border and
raise the efficiency of the State Border Committee. It is especially important
in run-up to the New Year celebrations.
“You have been selected for this post from a number of candidates.
You know everything. There are no secrets for you in the border troops,”
Alexander Lukashenko said. “It is needed to solve all problems. You will do it
using your experience of work in the border protection system. You were the head
of the border checkpoint, you know all the nuances.”
The President paid special attention to the optimization of the
agency. “You know what has to be done. It is needed to optimize the agency. You
will be able to use the resources that will be saved. But the impeccable service
of border guards is the main thing. They should be impartial. You must protect
the state border,” the head of state stressed and added that the violations of
the state border are inadmissible.
“You
are military people and must do your best to protect the border, our Fatherland.
This is the main priority for you,” Alexander Lukashenko said. “Do not forget
that border guards are part of the Armed Forces. The quality of their training
is very important.”
The President also
praised the achievements of Leonid Maltsev at various posts. “He has done a lot
for the country. His experience is very useful,” the head of state said.
