An official visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the Republic of Serbia has begun.

After the official meeting at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport the Belarusian head of state visited the Avala Memorial and laid a wreath at the Monument to an Unknown Hero. The President also left a note in the distinguished visitors’ book. “I offer a tribute to the Serbian warriors who laid their lives in exchange for a free, peaceful and happy life of Serbia, for prosperity and wellbeing of the brotherly Serbian nation,” the note reads.

On 12 June the Belarusian head of state is expected to hold one-on-one talks with his Serbian counterpart Tomislav Nikolić. After that the presidents will hold expanded participation negotiations.

Aleksandr Lukashenko will also meet with top officials of the Serbian National Assembly and with Patriarch Irinej of Serbia.
