President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko delivered the annual State of the Nation Address on 21 April.

Economic issues were in the center of attention, a special emphasis was made on the innovative development of the national economy. The head of state also spoke about Belarus’ social policy priorities, in particular, the improvement of the pension system, healthcare, and education.

The main principles of the Belarusian foreign policy and the personnel policy were in the spotlight as well.

The head of state answered 15 questions of MP regarding the enhancement of the national security, Belarus’ accession to the WTO, labor relations, religious policy, certain regional issues, especially in view of the mitigation of the Chernobyl consequences.

The event was attended by Belarusian top-ranking officials, MPs, heads of public administration bodies, directors of major enterprises, representatives of the diplomatic service and mass media outlets.
