Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has appointed Vladimir Dvornik Deputy Premier.

The head of state described Vladimir Dvornik as a rather proficient person with a wealth of experience in the regional government and in the agricultural sector. “You have had a bumpy ride, with ups and downs. You have gone through all kinds of situations and got invaluable experience that will come in handy during your work as deputy premier,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Vladimir Dvornik will be in charge of the agricultural industry, forestry, natural resources and environmental protection, among other things. “These are the things you constantly deal with in your work,” the President noted.

The Belarusian head of state emphasized that job rotation is the underlying principle of personnel policy in Belarus and abroad. “Therefore, the Belarus President Administration head was tasked to submit proposals on personnel rotation. We have recently done it in the Ministry of Internal Affairs again. Career growth should be vertical and horizontal. I think time has come for Gomel Oblast Governor,” the Belarusian leader said.

Speaking about Gomel Oblast, the President gave his take on residents of the region. “I have always respected them. More than that, I love people from Gomel Oblast very much; they were hit hard once; however we have overcome it together. Gomel Oblast is not the way it used to be, however, some issues remain,” he said.

The President expressed confidence that Vladimir Dvornik will have a decent successor. For the time being, the duties of the Gomel Oblast governor will be performed by the first deputy governor and the aide to the president in Gomel Oblast. “I asked you to meet with the first deputy governor and the presidential aide who both will be in charge of Gomel Oblast till the official successor is announced. I assume you have met with them and had a conversation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian leader noted that in the capacity of deputy premier Vladimir Dvornik will still be in charge of personnel decisions in Gomel Oblast. He will have to help the new local administration to get familiar with their responsibilities. “You need to help the new governor, new people to get into the swim of things, answer their questions and offer advice, so that they can move on,” the President noted.
