Report of Chairman of Investigation Committee Ivan Noskevich

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Chairman of the Investigation Committee Ivan Noskevich to receive his report on the operation of the agency and investigation of notable criminal cases on 6 September.

“The first issue is the situation in the Investigation Committee. You know that I am keeping an eye on the operation of the Investigation Committee. I would like to listen to your opinion and make sure it is in sync with mine,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president also asked about the progress in the investigation of criminal cases which he is keeping an eye on. “There are quite a few. There are many criminal cases of this kind. What is the progress in the investigation? Is everything honest, objective and fair?” he asked.

Besides, Aleksandr Lukashenko touched upon the cooperation of the investigation committees of Belarus and Russia. “When Alexander Bastrykin [chairman of the Investigation Committee Investigation Committee of Russia] was here we agreed on closer interaction between our agencies. You have held joint panel meetings, now tell me about your impressions,” the head of state added.

According to Ivan Noskevich, there are no problems in the operation of the Investigation Committee. “We are working normally within the framework of the existing legislation. I cannot mention any tense situations either. Perhaps, we can work normally because of the current crime situation,” he said.
