FIFA World Cup Trophy on display in Palace of Independence

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko took part in the ceremony to display the FIFA World Cup Trophy in the Palace of Independence.

It was brought to Minsk from Vienna. The event was attended by young Belarusian football players, coaches, representatives of the football community, Olympic champions and medalists, sports functionaries.

Partaking in the event was also FIFA representative Lucas Rachow.

After a photo opportunity Aleksandr Lukashenko had a warm conversation with the participants of the ceremony. They discussed the first achievements of young football players, the development of various sports in the country. First of all, they discussed the state of affairs in Belarusian football. Honored Coach of the USSR Eduard Malofeyev shared his opinion about it with the head of state. The president listened to him and promised to pay more attention to this issue. He gave corresponding instructions to Chairman of the Belarusian Football Federation Sergei Rumas.

The meeting with the head of state also focused on the development of swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, fencing, rowing, cycling. The participants of the meeting discussed the performance of Belarusian athletes at the 2018 Olympic Games in PyeongChang. There was a tour around the Palace of Independence for the participants of the meeting.

Lucas Rachow presented a reduced copy of the FIFA World Cup Trophy to Aleksandr Lukashenko. It is expected that this copy will be permanently exhibited at the Palace of Independence.
