Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko presented state awards to representatives of various professions on 4 July.

Orders, medals, honorary titles have been conferred on about 40 people. “In accordance with a good tradition, during Independence Day celebrations we honor distinguished citizens of our country. It is symbolic that the main national holiday in Belarus is associated with the liberation of the country from the Nazi invasion, the acquisition of freedom and independence,” the head of state remarked.

The ceremony in the Palace of Independence was attended by those who have achieved a lot in peaceful labor and military service.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the today’s heirs of those heroic times are multiplying the glory of the Homeland by the exemplary fulfillment of service duties and personal courage. “Since ancient times, a soldier, defender of the Fatherland has enjoyed profound respect, has been a reliable pillar of the state. And today the best representatives of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies, emergencies bodies are attending this ceremony,” the President said.

According to the head of state, representatives of the agricultural industry, rural workers also make a big contribution to ensuring national security. “Thanks to their diligent work, even in the most unfavorable weather conditions, they have managed to boost the export of foodstuffs, strengthen the country’s budget in a complicated period,” Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked.

State awards and honorary titles have been also presented to representatives of various branches of the economy and professions. These include manufacturers and builders, doctors and lawyers, foresters and athletes, scientists and cultural figures, workers of the services sector and social security. “It proves that a person has vast opportunities for the application of professional skills and creative abilities in our society. And the contribution of every dignified citizen, a patriot of the country will be rewarded,” the Belarusian leader said.

Medals for Saved Life have been presented for the first time in the history of the Belarusian state. “This is a new state award presented in recognition of the brave deeds of our compatriots who risked their lives to save other people,” the President said.
