Aleksandr Lukashenko signs decrees to build football stadium, swimming pool in Minsk

    On 13 August Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 306 on the construction of a football stadium and Decree No. 307 on the construction of a swimming pool in line with international standards.

    These projects aim to enable Minsk to host top-level competitions and encourage the public to take up sports.

    The decrees are based on respective Belarus-China intergovernmental agreements on implementation of two projects of technical and economic aid.

    At present preparatory work is underway. Dinamo National Olympic Stadium and the National Center of Olympic Training for Water Sports will be beneficiaries of the aid and will provide project support from location survey to commissioning.

    Chinese partners will undertake the turnkey construction of the facilities. Design engineering and construction works will be done in compliance with technical regulations of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and international football federations (FIFA and UEFA).

    In line with the decrees, the projects shall be implemented by 31 December 2023.
